I upgraded from a Phenom II X6 to this after my PSU fried my mobo. So far, I absolutely love it. Even going from 6 to 4 cores, the quality is amazing. Granted, I use it for gaming mostly, so anything more than 4 cores (as of 2014) is useless for gaming. I use a SSD and strongly advise it, as I can boot up and load a browser in probably 16 seconds. Seriously, ridiculously responsive. I have been making my own compuiters ofr over 15 years, and never experienced something so fast as this. Love it.

Although this Core i5 is an older LGA1150, 4400 series, it is still significantly faster than the i3 that I replaced. I performed various benchmark tests on the old system before removing the i3, then again with the i5, and the increased CPU speed is dramatic. About 40% - 50% faster (score of 3000 vs 7000, respectively). Wow. And for the same price that I paid for the i3 (which I don't know why I ever even bothered buying). As far as real-world application goes, the performance of 1080p video projects in Adobe Premiere Pro CC has greatly increased, with multiple layers of effects, as well as 3D programs such as 3DS Max and Blender. Well worth the upgrade, especially since it takes less than 5 minutes to swap out the old for the new.

Got this to replace a G3258 in my work desktop and immediately the system was a lot peppier and my system runs a lot better. Even at 3.2Ghz vs the 4.0 I was running on the G3258, the extra cores make a HUGE difference. Not running any games on the system, more for production and work than games, although I'd imagine the chip would work well with a $100 graphics card to play around 720p....maybe 1080p for less demanding titles

I needed an in-between performance processor for my Ubuntu 18.04 Linux file and DLNA (uses Rygel) server with 16 GBytes of RAM, and this was a good match. I get file transfers of up to 5 or 6 Gbytes per minute over my 1 Gbit Ethernet. This system loafs most of the time, so its energy usage is quite low. I'm sure if I add other functionality in the future, this processor will be more than necessary to handle it.

I got this to replace the i5-3570k I had before that was destroyed in an accident and I love it. I didn't feel like dealing with overclocking because it has never made that big of a difference in what I do most of the time so I went for this version and I'm very happy. it is running on the stock cooler which is not the best but gets the job done without over heating if you have a small case with low airflow get an aftermarket cooler.

When I initially built my system over a year ago I had the hindsight to use a motherboard that would have the adaptability to use a better CPU (Gigabyte Z97). I started with a Pentium G3450 because that is all my budget allowed at the time (also purchased from Amazon, and also a nice CPU) but figured now is the time to upgrade. Install went flawlessly and it works great. Really really FAST CPU. No overclocking required and the stock fan is fantastic. The price is absolutely right for this product and just about what I would want to spend on a CPU upgrade. You really can't go wrong here.

A cost-effective processor and efficient for most computer tasks. I use my desktop for gaming, photo editing, video editing, and word processing and occasionally have some lag but it's barely noticeable. Not the most up to date processor, but if you're looking to cut costs on your computer build I would recommend this.

It's been chugging along just nicely in my wife's Hackintosh. Paired with a nice amount of memory, it's been better than I expected any i5 to be. Entry level gaming performance is pretty impressive. We have it paired with a GTX 950. It can even handle streaming videos both in and out. Haven't really tested streaming games though. Still, as a hardware enthusiast, and this being the first i5 I see in action, I was pleasantly surprised.

I bought this for a new surveillance server to replace my old one that ran at 97% utilization. Package arrived faster than expected. I could not tell it was used other than it did not come in the OE package. Has been working great for the past few months pulling the same load as my last server but with only using 9%.

I think I'm running late here. I don't think people would still buy this. Works great though for me after a long time, and with the best value for the money. I mainly used this on a 720p with a 960 and it made a sweet spot. Had to replace thermal paste once.
