The first print of an intricate figurine came out flawless! No adjustments, just plugged in the suggested settings, using the ESUN clear UV resin. And 2 hours later I was convinced. I'm NEVER buying another FDM 3d printer.I'm a product designer. EPAX had a booth at CES 2019. I grilled the owner for 15 minutes about the machine. And was absolutely impressed. His focus was to create a high quality, low-cost resin printer. Literally purchased on amazon an hour later. The prints you see in the pictures are not an exaggeration of quality. He's definitely achieved what he set out to doI had been looking at buying the Anycubic Photon for months and months, and am so glad I didn't. The EPAX is such a better quality printer in my opinion.PROS:No Z-Wobble - Upgraded Z-axis carriage rail (Anycubic Photon doesn't come close to quality here.) Look at the pictures I included. It uses a double steel rod reinforced carriage and steel bearings. No calibration required runs perfectly out of the box.Non-FEP Film for Resin Vat - Reduces print adhesion between layers that helps reduce printing errors.Ultra-Precise Fixed Build Platform - Calibrated to perfection right out of the factory. Something I was not aware of, but resing printers have quite a bit of force due to suction as the build platform pulls away from the bottom of the vat. The Anycubic Photon uses an adjustment system that just plain isn't as rigid. So if you're not careful to tighten things, it can move out of alignment, failed prints, more time not printing. The EPAX uses a 4 point mount that is absolutely rock solid. Was already calibrated perfectly out of the box. I will be surprised if I EVER have to adjust it for the life of the printer.Better Chasis Design - Besides the EPAX being built like a tank with an all steel chassis. The windows on the Anycubic looked enticing until I realized after printing my first print, that you can't view what's happening with the printer unless you pause, and allow the platform to raise. Regardless of how many windows on your printer you have. Which was no problem with the EPAX, pause worked like a dream, print raised to check on build plate adhesion and continued on without any detectable signs that printing was ever interrupted. Windows on a UV resin printer are NOT helpful. Just more opportunity for outside sources of UV light to mess things up.Smell - Honestly I heard over and over about the smell of a resin printer, so far I've hardly noticed a thing...Precise Optical Z homing - Pretty standard on most 3d printer's now, but glad to see they didn't use a less precise mechanical limit switch setup. Again was perfectly calibrated out-of-box. I'm used to FDM printers that need hours of calibration and recalibration. Still can't believe how much easier this is to print with.Better Door Hinge Design - Anycubic Photon can't sit against a wall because it's hinged at the back fo the machine. EPAX can.Aesthetics - I realize this is subjective, but the EPAX looks more professional in my opinion. I'm proud to have it on display in my office. It looks like a piece of expensive lab equipment in my opinion.CUSTOMER SERVICE - Seriously when they say great customer service they mean it. Responses to my e-mail inquiries were sent within minutes to hours. Extremely friendly, very eager to help.CONS:Manual is detailed but needs some refinement to be a little easier for non-technical users to understand. Spoke with owner and said he's addressing this issue though.Anything else that could go here like the smell of resin, or how part processing with resin requires a bit more than FDM 3d printers is so insanely outweighed by the ease of use, quality of print, and out-of-box printability. I don't think they're worth even listing as a con.

[[VIDEOID:2788131d18be1a472783b10c29c33373]] I have a Photon, EPAX, Moai, and three Form 1+ machines. The EPAX has the following nice things that I noticed:1. Larger LCD - 3.5 inches. I can read the time remaining on the EPAX without a problem.2. Nice Z axis - has a wide spread of the linear rods which should be stable.3. The resin vat has a rubber seal in it, so it can't leak.4. Uses low-cost Photon replacement screens.5. Will work with Photon vats, which are inexpensive.6. More watts from LED - I tested exposure times as 70% of my other printer.7. Easy to open bottom. EPAX uses four external screws and is simple.8. Door opens around the sides for more access.9. Built plate comes factory-leveled and may never need to be adjusted.10. Higher contrast colors on display - for better readability.11. Anti-aliasing. Parts are smoother.12. Even illumination. This is a big deal - the light is more diffuse.

Got this printer over the weekend but had no chance to use it. Tried running the installer for the 64 bit version of chitubox and am now hoping these haven't done any severe damage to my computer or leaked any important information. DO NOT INSTALL SOFTWARE FROM THE USB.[UPDATE 6/28]I contacted Amazon support about my above issue the moment this happened. Seeing as the only thing they could do was refund my purchase, I decided to not go through with it because at that point the damage had been done. I wiped my system immediately and started as fresh as I could seeing as how difficult a time my windows anti-virus software had containing the problem. Might as well keep it and try to make it work. To be completely honest I was extremely excited for this printer. For those saying you should always download software off websites and stray from anything included, that's unacceptable. Any company expecting to sell a product and include software bundled with it should always be held responsible for what said software can do. And for anyone questioning this accusation I have a happy ending to this story. Today I received a letter from EPAX addressing this issue directly, mentioning that I was not the only who experienced the presence of virus ridden executables on their thumb drives.I was not expecting this at all. Although the response was delayed, I appreciated the company responsible for creating this product addressing this issue regardless of the time frame in which I experienced my issues. The letter not only included an apology and explanation, but also some extra FEP film and a guard for the LED screen to prevent resin from seeping under and into the LCD. It was even stated that they would no longer include usb drives with executables with their printers. Even though the letter and extra goodies won't bring back my files or give me peace of mind knowing my files aren't floating around in the web somewhere, this was good.So here we are now, I've printed many things on this printer and have many successes but also many failures. The failures mostly are due to my lack of understanding of dlp printing, but the success have far surpassed my expectations. In closing, thank you for the response EPAX. I won't go to a 5 star review, but I'll definitely bump this up. Thank you for the letter, FEP film, and LCD protector.

A miniature modelers dream come trueI do a lot of VERY small detail modeling for table top board gaming and general amusement. I used to go to Shapeways for all of my small scale 3D printing needs. Then they jacked their rates up as well as changed their manufacturing processing for the ultra detail stuff with a lower quality process. Enough was enough!I had heard that DLP printers had come a LONG way and the price had effectively fallen through the floor so I decided to look into it. After quite a bit of looking around I stumbled upon the EPAX X1. It didn't have a lot of reviews, but I REALLY liked what I was reading about the specifications and all of the improvements they loaded into it over the Anycubic Photon. I took the plunge (even thought it wasn't “Prime shipping”).Allow me to say I am SO HAPPY! The hardest part is learning the slicer software as there is no actual manual from the manufacturers of the software (the printer does come with some basic instructions that will get you on the right path however) Here is the thing, GET IN TOUCH WITH THE CUSTOMER SUPPORT, THEY ARE AMAZING! They answered every question I had and I flooded them with texts and messages. No I mean it! I was a royal pain in the butt, and they happily and easily guided me through everything I had a question about. So here I am on day three cranking out Shapeways quality. The three K'tinga class cruisers I show in the supplied photo would have cost me around $50 out the door from Shapeways, this thing is going to pay for itself in no time!

This is, in my honest opinion, the best SLA printer you can buy for under $1k.It performs perfectly without issue, creates extremely detailed prints with no visible layer lines at 35 microns, can go all the way down to 10 microns from what I’ve seen, and is built very solid and sturdy, as i’d prefer a machine like this to be.I have only had two failed models (not even entire prints!) in the week I’ve had this, and it was 100% due to me learning how to support things well enough. I’m printing miniatures for tabletop gaming, and I could not be more pleased.I highly recommend picking up eSun bio-resin with this, as it has a much less intrusive odor and seems to be EPAX’s go-to as well. Although, I did use Elegoo resin for the prints I’ve pictured and it works perfect, as you can see.All in all, it deserves 5 stars. The customer support has been amazing as well. Though I’ve had no issues with the X1, I’ve dealt with them for combining shipping on an order.

I bought this as a replacement for my broken Wanhao Duplicator 7 resin printer. I've had a much higher successful print ratio with this printer than I ever had with the D7. The light source is much more powerful, resulting in quick layer cure times. The Z-axis is incredibly stable and results in very consistent prints. The clamshell-style door is a welcome addition too. Couldn't have been happier!

I know, Elegoo Mars, Photon! Just do it right and get this printer. Compared to the others this thing is built like a tank. Better LED array, shortening print times by more than 40%. Excellent costumer service in USA. Out of the box printing, Literally pull it out of the box, everything is factory set, pour resin, load the file and print, print and print. I haven't touched mine yet. Friend of mine has a Mars, not even close. Now he's selling his mars to get one of these.

This is the first 3D printer I have owned and I must say the prints are excellent! The first two prints I made came out perfect. As I started printing more advanced models I had some failures, but that was due to not understanding the technology. This printer was easy to setup and use. There is literally nothing that needs adjusting out of the box. The touch screen works great. It is responsive and shows a preview on the print. The only real issue is that the print volume is fairly small when compared to an FDM printer. However, if you want to print detailed parts, this is the way to go.

User says:

It is just an excellent machine, well made, sturdy, durable, easy to use, and the prints are flawless and layerless when properly designed (yeah... no machine will pull you out of a poor design...). I have made functional parts that are truly functional, and without the visible layers, everyone is astounded by the parts.. " One of my printed parts is in a drill press and it is holding up perfectly (pic inserted in this review). also, I use the ethernet port with a wireless WiFi adapter... so I can send prints wirelessly to the printer, which is awesomeR ...absolutely highly recommended..

I've never given a review before, but this printer deserves one. Epax has the X1 leveled and ready to print right out of the box. I threw a model into the slicer program and then in the printer. I've been printing without fail for over a month. The casing of the printer is heavy duty and very durable. The black acrylic window blocks out most light, only allowing you to see a slight view of the build plate and internals. The nonFEP film for the vat is amazing. I never had a problem with a print sticking to the FEP. The touchscreen is very responsive, but not so much that hovering your finger close to the screen activates a press. The highlight of this printer for me is the immediate usability of it. Load it with resin, load the print, press start and walk away without worry.

Printed immediately after open. The EPAX unit comes with ChiTuBox slicer. Fairly straight forward compared in using Cura. Created two miniature midels that I am very pleased with. See attached. The unit is made of metal and feels sturdy. See attached pics of unit. Did not update firmware immediately, but did do it and it was easy.Looking to buy a second one as they are on sale on manufacturers website ($399).

User says:

Love this printer already from seeing the print quality on my first print. I'll update this review when I've had time to print some larger miniatures. My test print was at .02 mm printing at a height of 12-15 mm. I've put my print next to a previous print done on a Neva from Dagoma for comparison. Super clean as you can see when compared to a traditional 3d printer (minimum print was .1 mm for the Neva compared to .01 mm for the EPAX X1). Instruction videos they have online were straight forward and very helpful, and the config file for my resin with chitubox made it super easy. Touch screen with the usb was simple, and I'd like to get it configured on my LAN at some point.

I’m totally amazed by the quality of this product, this is my first 3d printer and is too easy and intuitive start printing some models right out of the box. Quality is superb

User says:

The level of detail is amazing! I have had an anycubic but this prints faster and at a much better quality for the price.

User says:

Great little machine! New to SLA Printing and after a few attempts I got the hang of it and love the ease and quality of the printing. The slicing software it syncs with is super easy to use as well! Highly recommend this printer!

User says:

read all the instructions upgrade your printer, and before anything home your printer. If you live abroad remember to buy resin from somewhere else, they dont send resin samples because of the customs.

User says:

Great printer at an affordable price.Great support from company and community

User says:

Hands down the easiest, print right out of the box 3d resin printer at this price range! Love all the little upgrades this thing has over the Photon.

User says:

With the recent price drop this is the printer to buy! Honestly ready to use right out of the box, with incredible quality (better than Mars or Photon) prints. All metal construction, really fast printing times do to a higher power light source, and just lots of little "quality of life" touches. If you get one you won't be sorry. Look for reviews on youtube to check it out!
