This review was posted on 8/6/2019.I'm a system builder and recently put a Ryzen 7 2700x cpu in of of these boards for a customer. The install was easy, and straight forward. The bios is clean and easily managed, and can be updated from inside the bios via the internet, which is a nice touch. The performance of this board was very solid when it worked. It completely died after only a few weeks of use, however. The customer I built it for isn't the tinkering type, so I can't believe he was doing anything but general gaming use on it.After gaming on it for several hours, the customer did a routine Windows shut down and went to work. When he returned from work, he hit the power button to do some gaming, and nothing happened. The board was completely dead.He brought the build back to me, and I tested the board with two different working power supplies and it would receive no power. I also tested his power supply with a PSU tester and another motherboard and had no issues getting power from that PSU.He did not want to wait for the RMA process for a new board, so we ordered another one of the same exact model to avoid Windows reinstall. After installing the new board, everything seems to be good for now.Being a system builder for over 12 years now, I have never had a motherboard die me. I guess I've just been lucky. This board broke that streak. I am not going to trash Asus's name or this board (at least not yet) because I know that when dealing with electronics, sometimes you just get a bad product off the production line. It happens. I'm also not some angry/broke gamer kid who's mad that his computer died, so trashing the company with a bad review isn't my style.I am in the process of doing the RMA for the first board, and so far the only part of Asus tech-support I didn't like is that the lady I talked to did not speak English well at all. So far the second board is working just fine (just installed it today - 8/6/2019) and the first one will be sent back for a replacement.Overall I like Asus Products and have had no issues with any other product of theirs so far. Hopefully the second board holds up and doesn't give any more issues.

I took the risk and decided to go Ryzen for the first time and was glad I did. I went with the Asus B450-F mainly from the good reviews, affordability and my having settled on a Ryzen 2700x with 16GB of Corsair memory on board. For those who have either never built a gaming PC or are a bit rusty, don't worry, this is a great motherboard and I had only a few small snags in my install, mainly because I was new to the AMD way of doing things and also to the BIOs and a few things it wants when you test your POST for the first time. Just take your time and if you are not sure as to the answer for a question, Google or YouTube it or call the support line for help. I watched the YouTube videos on the Asus board and it all went well save for my little goof-up on POST.The two main takeaways: 1.) Make sure to plug the keyboard and mouse in during your first POST test. I was used to motherboards that didn't require it and that little mistake cost me an hour of scratching my head! And 2.) Put cardboard down in a couple of layers next to the mounting clips for the Ryzen fan/heat sink so you don't run the risk of damaging the motherboard when attempting to clip the heat sink to the motherboard. Make sure to use the motherboard cardboard box as a nice testing stand for your motherboard while you run the first POST test before installing it all into the case... This is experience talking. The Ryzen CPU came with the thermal compound applied and while I usually use my own brand, I opted to go with the pre-applied compound and it went great. I will, however, change the compound in six months or so to see how it is doing and replace it with Arctic Silver compound I normally use. As far as the installation of the CPU went, it was perfect. I handled the CPU by the edges and was super gentle in my install. Having had bent CPU pins in the past, I was in NO hurry here and triple-checked to insure all was as expected before I moved on to lock down the CPU and install the heat sink/fan.Power supply was a Corsair CX series 750 watt power supply that was specified in the Asus list of compatible power supplies. Really nice bit of kit there and I liked the ability to plug in ONLY the cords I needed to for my setup. Worked just great right off the bat.I opted for a Rosewill Cullinan RGB case with the fancy smoked glass sides and front panel and love how it all looks with the RGB fans with a fan hub/controller. I'm still figuring out if I can link the RGB hub up to the motherboard to take advantage of the Aura Sync system built into the motherboard. I rather do like the neat RGB lighting built into the motherboard and have yet to test the software that is freely available for Aura Sync. I did have to add 2 standoffs to the case where the motherboard attaches to get full coverage for the motherboard and other than that, it was all smooth sailing on the installation. As for a graphics card, I opted for the ZOTAC Gaming GeForce GTX 1650 OC 4GB. It is performing well so far. All of my gaming systems have used Zotac cards and I have enjoyed how well they work in the prior two gaming systems I have built. We'll see how this new one works, but so far, in the 3 days of burn-in I've done, it has held up. I downloaded the drivers from Zotac's site and the drivers and support software installed with no troubles.I will likely add 2 more sticks of memory on-board to take the system to 32gb and see how it all goes.I'm a retired IT professional who did a LOT of server installs in my day. I would recommend a nice set of tools like a simple needle-nose plier set, some mid-sized screwdrivers (phillips and flat head) plus a magnetic base to hold all the screws you will inevitably be working with. It's best to have them all in one place and impossible to lose. Expect to budget 4 or 5 hours to the build and likely it'll spread over a couple of days. As I mentioned earlier, I do a one week burn-in for my systems and it is a good test of the hardware. You can get away with 24 hours, but I like to see the system truly get exercised for that full week to insure all is good.So... In conclusion: What did I think of the Asus B450-F? So far, it is running great! The normal learning curve for a new type of motherboard and brand. Not too many surprises other than the POST requirement for a mouse and keyboard attached. I am pleased with how it all integrated. I'll update this review over time, but with 3 days so far in the burn-in time, the system is working like a dream and the motherboard temps are running low and the system boots in 15 seconds flat to login screen. I'm giving this motherboard a BUY rating and a thumbs-up.

User says:

So I know much like myself most people are worried about whether or not the board you buy will say "Ryzen 3000 Ready" which means that it'll work out of the box with any Ryzen Gen 3 cpu, and that you don't have to either buy a Gen 1,2 cpu or get a loaner to update the bios. I can't guarantee it'll happen for everyone depending on what amazon has in stock and the warehouse it comes from. But I can say that as of buying mine (12/29/19) while amazon was out of stock, I did end up receiving one that had Ryzen 3000 Ready on the outside of the box. Some recent reviews stated they hadn't but I just wanted to post this showing it can happen. If yours does have it, it'll show up on the front bottom left-ish/middle in an orange text box. (As shown in the picture)Sadly none of my other parts are here yet to be able to test it out but I just wanted to mainly post this to show at it's possible. Just kinda have to take a chance at the moment. Hope this helps. I'll update if it doesn't end up working, as of now though I'll give it a 5 star for actually being the current up to date board.

Very nice MOBO. Works great with Ryzen 7 2700x CPU! Had a little trouble plugging in one of my USB 2.0 into its slot but with some careful applied pressure, it went into place. Love the bios set up and updated it from one of ASUS's beta applications. It was a breeze. Very satisfied with my purchase so far. I recommend this MOBO for sure.

User says:

This thing is slick looking. it has 5 fan headers plus a an AIO cooler header. 2 RGB headers, onboard USB-C. Its ASUS so the BIOS is great. You cant go wrong with this board. the only thing that is a non-issue is the I/O shield covers some of the VRM's so without having a probe thermometer I cant tell if its messing with the thermals. ive got a stable 4.1mhz overclock with 1.41 volts on my Ryzen 2600. This thing is really nice. also if your not big into ASUS ( which you should be) the MSI B450 tomahawk is another top o the line B450 board. Good Luck

User says:

I really like the Asus Rog Strix B-450-F Gaming II ATX motherboard. It has 2 RGB headers: one 5v 3pin and the other with 12v 4 pin plus 2 M.2 slots. I have not used the RGB headers yet so I’m not sure how it works. I think the previous generation (B-450-F Gaming) does not have the 5v 3pin RGB header. The I/O shield is already pre-mounted which makes it easier to put into the case. I currently use Ryzen 5 3600x, 16GB (2x8GB) DD4 3200MHz memory ram (V-Color brand). Its 3rd generation AMD Ryzen processors are already done so I don’t have to update any bios for it to work. This is my first time using Asus motherboard and so far I have only a few problems. What bothers me is their software constantly appearing on the desktop screen (see picture). Even if I move it off my desktop screen, I still accidentally click on it while playing games which takes me to the icon. Then when I switch back to my game I’m already dead; it’s very annoying, best to right click on the icon and exi. Another problem I have is on the Sonic Studio 3 app: I cannot login to my account! This link is the same Asus products register account, which I already have one. I created a different email address and password through Sonic Studio 3 and it still didn’t work! I don’t know if any of you have ever had this problem. As others mentioned and stated on Asus details, when using M.2 SSD, the board disables SATA ports 5 and 6 which leaves you with only 4 SATA ports. I saw a reviewer mention that his customer somehow lost all the SATA on the B-450-F Gaming motherboard (that the reviewer himself built) and blamed the motherboard. I found the solution to re-enable the SATA ports when I clicked “Load Optimized Defaults” (pictured) inside the bios on saving to make sure my memory ram and CPU were back to stock after playing with. The CPU and memory ram does reset back to stock, but it also DISABLES ALL the SATA ports including the M.2 slots. As a result, when the computer starts up, it looks for a hard drive or operation system (which I already installed and was working fine). I wondered why my operation system was gone. No matter how many times I restarted my computer, the screen showed “missing operation system”. After 15-20 minutes of trouble shooting I realized that I clicked on “Load Optimized Default” disabled the SATA ports and m.2 slots. To solve this, go to Advanced mode (pictured) and “Enable” the SATA port(s) and m.2 slots. Otherwise they will completely disappear and you’ll think it’s the motherboard’s fault. In my point of view, this motherboard is too advanced. The Load Optimized Default setting SHOULDN’T DISABLE the SATA ports and M.2 slots. I hope that with the new bios update, Asus will fix this problem. If not, new users might blame the motherboard as being defected or broken. I don’t know why newest motherboard (including this motherboard) still using USB 2.0. I haven’t has any problem of the device(s) even though it stated USB 2.0, I plug into USB 3.0 without any problems. Overall I recommend this motherboard to anyone.

today i finally got my motherboard witch i bought in a kit with my ryzen 5 3600 cpu to upgrade an intel system, once i got the old one out i put this new one here in and i must say it was one of the easiest motherboard upgrades ive ever done...first try everything just worked....it fired up without hesitation and i threw on a small little ram overclock and so far everything's going perfect....im trying to find a way too change the heatsink rgb too a solid color to match my system though and i just cant seem to find a way too do it, i already had asus aura for my ram and cooler so im not sure why i cant just change this rgb with that software and thats kinda annoying me honestly.

Motherboard arrived today (12th december 2019) I surprised to see the "3rd series ready" sticker on the box. I installed it with 3600 Ryzen CPU and my old R9 270X at the first PCI-E slot, got VGA beeps error, then I replaced the gpu at the second slot mobo was successfully able to boot after a few long attempts and entered the bios. I was happy to see that this mobo supports my 3600 mhz ram sticks and displaying clear 3600Mhz ram speed.i didn't expected B450 board to run 3600Mhz ram, but gladly it works.Edit (15th december 2019)I decided not to give up, i tried it on the first PCI-E slot once again and this time it worked.but then i found out that my SATA sshd is not detected so i tried another SATA cable and the sshd was detected.Edit (8th jan 2020)Overall decent mobo, it has not the greatest VRM but does it job for a 3600 ryzen cpu, with zen 2ryzen 7 or 9 cpus you should consider a better cooling solution. it had the 3000 ryzen support sticker on the box so i was able to boot with new 3600 cpu out of the box. with the original bios it takes few attempts to boot. make sure to always update bios. if you planning on connecting RGB components it has 2 of 4 pin (+12V-GRB) RGB headers make sure your rgb components has same connection. about the price, well it has RGB rog asus logo glowing near the pre-installed I/O shield which can be turned off and overall good looking board so it makes the price decent. you can get cheaper board with better VRM if you don't care about the rgb stuff.

I love it. There was a time, I build "arm to teeth AM3+". I had FX 8 core. Now time has come to Gen 4. I look for Ryzen 8 core, I pick 7. 2700x. Amazon pair with, this M.B. It got a Look . I not gamer, I just need super PC. First time ever, I have no SATA connections in my PC. That is amazing. Only accessory i have is Video Card. Because, it Come with 2 NVMe M.2. After you install W 10 from USB drive, you don't even need to go back to BIO and change booth option.Oh those M.2 are absolutely fast.I building another one for MRS. Ryzen 5. 1600, same time. She got 970 evo +. You can never go back to those, 7200 MB HD or SSD again. Only problems is, now I hook on M.2 speed. Now i going to clone all my 9 PC from big old HD to M.2. Questions really is, what am I going to do with all 9 HD and 9(backup HD) that 18 HD. I hook with M.2. AMD done it again. Fan is 80% silent (for 8 core) May be 100% when got inside the case. MB. Bio, firmware customer service from Asus is great. Couldn't been more happier. Welcome to future.

User says:

Definitely worth the money over the lower end budget boards that don't have RGB. Runs ASUS QVL approved Team Group T-Force Night Hawk RGB DDR4 3200 at stated speeds. RGB ROG logo is well diffused and easily controlled with the downloadable AURA software although getting the XPG S40G NVME drive to be detected and allow formatting and windows installation did require an update to the latest ASUS bios. One of my fav things about this board is not having to worry about slicing your fingers or hands open trying to install a I/O shield in the case because with this board it is built in and fits perfectly in the NZXT H440 case. Also if you're worried whether or not the new AMD Ryzen 5 1600 AF made on the new AMD 12nm process works, worry no more because it was detected with no issues out of the box. I can't say enough good about this board and recommend it for anyone wanting a Ryzen based budget performance build!

User says:

User says:

It is an excellent motherboard I am very satisfied with the performance that I have given until now, I have it with a ryzen 2700 and it works perfectly well in summary it is a very good motherboard.

User says:

Needed to upgrade my motherboard for aura sync capabilities and this is the board I settled on. I have to say I've only had it a week but im loving it and things run a little more smooth.

User says:

Installed the motherboard with all the other components. Everything was nice and easy. Got into Windows 10, installed the software to control the RGB. Sometimes it just forgets what I set it to. So I have to launch the software and reset it. The other thing is the Sonic Studio 3. It doesn't like to have multiple windows open (Firefox) so it can't tell which audio source to apply the effects. But I'm not going to take any points away for software issues. They can be fixed later down the road. As for the hardware I haven't had any problems with that.

User says:

Great product, installed easy, bios was a breeze and loading windows from a usb drive was very easy. Just remember if your going the ARGB route like with fan's or accent's they are ran off 5v led headers on your motherboard. This particular board is 12v so you either have to buy a volt converter (which are currently sold out as of this review) or you have to run the fans off of a controller, which in my case its what i did. Really like the aurora software had a gigabyte board previously and its software was trash compared to this. As of now absolutely no complaints with this board other than wishing it had 5v led headers but that was on me for not doing proper research...

User says:

I have built systems for around 20 years now and 98 percent of them are running Asus. I have systems out in the field going on 10 years old with Asus going strong. This is my first build using this particular Asus mainboard but I'm not expecting things to be any different.

User says:

Bought one before from Best Buy but there was something wrong with that one and I wanted to get another one so I tried buying one from Best Buy Again and they were sold out, so I managed to find one on here and it works PERFECTLY.

User says:

This motherboard has solid construction, easy to use BIOS, easy overclocking, and nice aesthetics. Installed my Ryzen 7 2700 in it and it posted right away. Asus motherboards are the best in my opinion, I have a Asus K53E laptop(2011) that is still running 9 years later.

User says:

Casi un añó con este mainboard y no he tenido ningún problema. Facil update de BIOS con las herramienta online de ASUS, cuenta con la cantidad de puertos que necesito.

User says:

if you guys were worried like me if it would support 3rd than then relax because it does.

User says:

I love this mobo. It was really easy to install with my PC upgrades using a ryzen 5 1500x and corsair 16gb DDR4 3000mhz ram. Booted up first time (second time actually, note to self remeber to connect your sata power to ssd and hdd). Love the look and feel as my old setup was ancient and would make many of you cringe(photo added for cringe factor) Very good product would recommend.

User says:

Was easy to get installed and the user manual is very informative. I am enjoying my new setup.

User says:

Awesome motherboard! It came shipped to me as "Ryzen 3000 ready" and I paired this mobo with an amd CPU that I also purchased offof eBay. Works great with my ryzen 3700x. Bios features are great especially with controlling case fan speeds and with undervolting the cpu for better temps.

User says:

The product is great and the RGB is solid but the reason I can't give it 5 stars is the Asus Aura software. Some PC games that use Anti Cheat software like Far Cry 5 and Ghost Recon Wildlands will not run unless Aura is completely uninstalled from our computers. They need to work on a patch for that because the game devs arent going to. That is the only flaw to this stellar product.

User says:

Very good quality board of nice materials. The board have all main functionalities for boosting cpu and ram all you need. Really beautiful sound even on comparison to previous x-fi sound blaster. Very glad with sound.

User says:

Wonderful motherboard. I play a lot of pvp games, Apex, wow, swtor, and was getting a lot of lag especially when going into battles with lots of people. Now that is a thing of the past. Has some pretty cool lighting effects to play around with as well.

User says:

Great quality budget platform for the 2nd Gen Ryzen. I bought this with a Ryzen 7 2700x and it was a quick and painless install. Didn't run into any problems getting the equipment to work and so far it has been a great fix for a problem I ran into on my Kaby Lake platform. Definitely great for budget gaming for great performance for those not ready to drop more money on the 3rd Gen Ryzen but still want a full form factor ATX motherboard.

User says:

Excelente producto. Instale un Amd Ryzen 3600 + 32 GB de ram a 3200 Mhz , funcionó 100%. Venía instalada la versión BIOS 3103. Actualmente actualice a BIOS 4007.Recomendada !

User says:

This motherboard is fantastic. So many more features than I had on my last one. And has many more headers then my last one. It looks very sleek and modern. And it looks great with the rest of my setup.

User says:

Great mother board. Overclocked my ryzen 5 2600 to 4.1ghz and is stable. Has two 4 pin (12v) rgb headers. So if you want any 3 pin headers this is not the board for you. All around great board.

User says:

So when I first got the first motherboard it came with bent pins. Called customer support and they were amazing in getting me a replacement and my pc is built and awesome! Not sure if I would buy pc parts online because of this experience as I usually buy some parts at bestbuy. But will try again buying more parts to make my pc perfect. This motherboard is a beast and so happy to upgrade my old pc.

User says:

Great motherboard for gaming. I have a 3600x in here and works great. Love the number of pci expansion slots and the 2 available m.2 slots are great.

User says:

Works well so far, made good use of all it's ports. Looks nice visually.Been using for 6 months now. Have had absolutely no issues. I am pleased.

User says:

Ha funcionado muy bien... Lo único que no tenía claro es que las letras que dicen Rog Strix no son RGB, son solo un holograma. Lo único que es RGB es el ícono de Republic of gamers. En todo caso estoy muy feliz con mi compra. Gracias.

User says:

I like the touch of RGB and it's perfectly fine and it work with the ryzen 7 out of the box the box came in be up but nothing was wrong with the motherboard and there was no scratches

User says:

9/15/18 edit:The release of firmware 0602 has solved the power delivery issues by allowing you to manually set CPU voltage. I can now achieve a stable OC of my Ryzen 5 2600 to 4.1Ghz with a core voltage 1.38v and CPU LLC set to medium. It's not great, but its perfectly acceptable for the 4+2 VRM set up on this board.*Note: I removed the shroud to get better airflow/cooling off the VRM's. It takes about 30 secs to remove the 2 screws holding it on.Original Review:The feature set of this board is excellent compared to other B450 boards...I'll give it that. And it will do just fine for anyone who doesn't want to overclock, or only wants to do the most mild of OC'ing (about the equivalent of auto-OC). But if you want to do anything approaching a moderate OC, avoid this board like the plague. Not being able to manually set your CPU voltage in the BIOS is an OC killer. Your only options are AUTO and Offset mode. If I attempt to OC my Ryzen 5 2600 above 3.8Ghz my PC crashes almost instantly because of power delivery failure. While this board would be just fine if your not going to OC, I'd save some money and get a B350 if that's your plan. If you plan to OC spend the extra 20 or so to get an X470.

I chose this MB after doing quite a bit of research on the current AM4 boards available. I paired it with an AMD RYZEN 5 2600 and 16 GBs of G.Skill TridentZ RGB 3200 Ram. It arrived with BIOS version 502 and I immediately updated to BIOS version 1103 and subsequently upgraded to version 1201. I read a review that was very negative regarding BIOS updates and I completely disagree with that. I have only had this MB for a few months but in that time Asus has provided 2 BIOS updates. So far I have nothing but good things to say about this MB. It looks great (IMO), seems to be of very good quality and allows me to run my Ryzen 5 2600 at 4 GHz without any issues. Overall it is a great choice for anyone building a mid range gaming pc.Update:I recently upgraded to a Ryzen 7 3700x and it performs extremely well on this motherboard. I have seen it hit 4.425 GHz on a Cinebench R20 single core run.The VRM (I have a temperature sensor sitting on my VRM heat sink) and Chipset temperatures stay cool even with the 3700x under full load.So if you are wondering if this motherboard can handle a Ryzen 5 3600, Ryzen 5 3600x or a Ryzen 7 3700x, I can safely say that it can.

Just built my daughter her first custom PC when the 450 hit market and am very very pleased. Paired with a 2600 and a 120mm AIO and some ram I had recently replaced in my rig. Threw in a 1050ti couple hard drives and turned out a pretty little PC. With 2 m.2 slots, 2 12v RGB headers and plenty of 4pin headers for fans and AIO pumps this board has plenty of headroom short of SLI. And probably my favorite feature, the integrated I/O shield backplate really gives this board a premium look and feel.

I'd consider this mid-range due to the nice features (m.2 support) and not so high price tag.Awesome board and I had ZERO issues during this build which was my first. Posted first attempt.Only downside is i had to configure UEFI and Legacy boot options to get windows to load. It's a beautiful and premium feeling board too.

So let me start by saying I’ve had this mother board installed for roughly 2 months now no problems at all. Began a pc build and I had an idea of where I was going regarding most essential pieces now when it came to the motherboard I wanted something not to pricey but is capable of handling on what I plan to install and boy this motherboard has been order for me when I purchased this part it was on sale for 99 so good deal easy install paired with an AMD Ryzen 2700x easy plug in play bios was really easy to mess with. If you are looking for a good motherboard and not pay something to high I would suggest this board.

I picked this board for my first ever pc build. I switched from consoles and could not be happier about my choice. It was a pleasure building with this board and all of the other components I picked for my build. Also I noticed some reviewers complaining about the ROG RBG on the board causing them to get kicked out of games due to anti-cheat, but I have not ran into that issue.
